Introduction:
My name is Ahmed Shaikh Memon, I live in Karachi, Pakistan. I’ve completed my B.S. in Computer Engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology back in year 2000. Since after graduation I am working as web-developer. I’ve worked in local software houses and international companies as an individual & team member.
Why named Teemya?
The name Teemya is my inspiration from 13th century Islamic scholar Ibn Taymiyyah, I may or may not agree to his teachings but his life has inspired me a lot. He was by birth from Hanbali school of jurisprudence but later he never tagged himself to particular sect. He was died in prison, even there authorities failed to stop him from writing. A famous quote from him;
What can my enemies do to me? My paradise is in my heart, it is with me wherever I go. To imprison me is to provide me with seclusion. To send me into exile is to send me away in the Path of Allah. And to kill me is to make me a martyr.
My take away from his life is freedom of expression, commitment & dedication despite all the odds.
Background:
My father bought computer in 1990, I dont remember the exact configuration of the system (it was surely pre-pentium age, few MBs of Hardisk used to enough), but it had a 4-color CGI Monitor and there was Windows 3.1 on it. It was the time when hardly any significant number of households had a Personal Computer in their home in our city. I was the only kid in home who took interest in the computers.
A friend of my brother told that games are developed in C language. My father observing my interest brought a BASIC language book. By reading that book I decided to understand how games are made. The day I learned how to go into graphics mode and move block of cursor from one point to another on the screen, it was like accomplishment for me.
Later from 1993-1995 I assisted my father and did data entry from our own shop in Urdu Bazar, Karachi (main market of stationary related items). I have typed several different English & Urdu paper books (of different authors) into computer.
Then in 1996 I was enrolled into Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi and completed my B.S. in Computer Engineering in year 2000. During studies after taking Compiler Design course I realized I like to parse, since then scraping & automation are my favorite.
Passion:
Complex tasks, sort of entice me, the reason I never took WordPress themes modifications & plugin writing gigs seriously is that I do not find challenge, there is lot of help & documentation out there to complete usual freelance gigs.
Work:
I have worked on a gig from Andy Gutsman of Zend.com, I found Andy a real gentleman, despite my lack of competency he paid me full as per our agreement.
I’ve also worked for .ws domain founder Michael Starr, it was really good to work with him.
